Gran Canaria World Trail Majors - A New Benchmark for Trail Running

At the 25th annual THE NORTH FACE Trans Gran Canaria , the new name and logo for the Gran Canaria World Trail Majors were unveiled, uniting two benchmark brands in their respective fields. Located approximately 100km off the coast of Morocco and Western Sahara in northwestern Africa , the Spanish island of Gran Canaria is known as an "outdoor gym all year round." Its warm climate, undulating terrain, and diverse range of sports have made it widely known among outdoor sports enthusiasts and a mecca for sports tourism.

The World Trail Majors is a non-profit organization that brings together and operates some of the world's best trail races, including Japan's Mt. Fuji 100 , South Africa's RMB Ultra Trail Cape Town, and The North Face Transgran Canaria. Its values ​​are based on diversity, respect, and self-identity, and the series supports each other for the greater good of the sport, while each race maintains its own unique DNA .

Support from the Gran Canaria local government

At an event held at the Maspalomas Lighthouse, Antonio Morales , president of the Gran Canaria regional government , declared, "TransGran Canaria has etched the name of Gran Canaria into the hearts of trail runners around the world, but the World Trail Majors are on a whole other level."

Carlos Alamo, Minister of Tourism for the Gran Canaria region, commented, "We were convinced by the World Trail Majors' values ​​of diversity, respect, and the fact that each race is part of the same group while maintaining its own identity."

The announcement was also attended by the race director of the Gran Canaria World Trail Majors, and Janet Wu of the ANTA Hong Kong 100 emphasized the importance of the innovative race series joining organizations like the Gran Canaria Tourism Board. "This is a fantastic partnership. We came here this morning to run the starter race and were able to experience firsthand the kindness of the race and the volunteers. I am proud to see that Gran Canaria remains runner-first."

The agreement aims to raise international awareness of Gran Canaria's tourism propositions as a natural, landscape and ideal training and competition location, and to present it worldwide in key markets such as Canada, South Africa and Japan, as well as other markets such as the UK, France and Portugal.
