The World Trail Majors is a framework for trail running and ultramarathon events that embodies the values of diversity, respect, sustainability, and independence. The framework brings together great races and race organizers from around the world, leveraging their local knowledge to deliver a new, community-centric, global racing experience.
Trail running and ultramarathon events have undergone a complex and sometimes unpredictable evolution. To guide the evolution of the sport in the right direction, several race organizers have combined their decades of accumulated knowledge and experience to form a framework that preserves the original spirit of trail running and ultramarathon events.
The fundamentals of this World Trail Majors competition are solid and simple.
- DiversityIt means embracing the diverse aspects of trail running and further enhancing the sport as a cultural and social activity. Trail running and ultramarathons are extremely diverse and varied sports. Each race is unique, varying in distance and terrain, offering athletes an endless variety of experiences. Diversity is one of the core values of trail running and must be cherished.
- RespectIt means caring for the environment of the race location and having the desire to improve it. The scenery of the race location you will be participating in has been there since before the birth of this sport. Respect the natural environment and local customs. It is important to strive to improve both the activity through trail running and the local community and the environment. Activities in nature must always be treated with respect and care for the natural environment. Please keep in mind that our activities have an impact not only on sport but also on the local area and the whole world.
- identityThis means that each event will be inspired by its local environment and the stories it tells, developing a unique and vibrant personality that will create a lasting legacy for the athletes, race officials and local communities that will make each event an unforgettable and incredible sporting experience.
The World Trail Majors is not primarily intended to solve the challenges of a rapidly evolving sport, but rather is a framework created to provide inspiration to all runners and event organizers and to point the way to new developments.
